APT proxy

From Free Geek Seattle

What is it?

Proxy server for Debian / Ubuntu packages.

Why

Saves these packages locally and serves them to APT clients, as during upgrades and such, in order to conserve upstream bandwidth.

Where

FCS Location will vary.

How

We're spoiled for choice:

  1. apt-cacher -- The ng should have more features
  2. apt-cacher-ng -- This requires client configuration.
  3. squid with squid-deb-proxy AaronPeterson (talk) 13:38, 3 October 2014 (PDT) If this doesn't require reconfiguring the built machines I'd advocate for this solution.
  4. debtorrent (yeah, right)
